Linking Home

Links to your home page should obviously be found pretty much all over your site; on every page. Perhaps linked from your company logo in the upper left, and or in your main navigation, as well as in your footer. We know that links are an important consideration in SEO.

Go through and take a look at how you are linking to your home page throughout your site.

Are they pointing to http://www.domain.com, or are they pointing to http://www.domain.com/index.html (or index.php, index.asp, etc.)?

Go ahead and get rid of the ending "index.whatever" and link directly to the domain name "http://www.domain.com".

Most external links to your site’s homepage will be pointing to the domain name as such, and so should you. Otherwise http://www.domain.com and http://www.domain.com/index.whatever will be considered as separate links!

Now go on and link back home, you savvy SEO-er!
